Finding the Perfect Name: The Journey Behind Beroder's AI Personas

September 27, 2023

When embarking on the ambitious Beroder project, our team was faced with countless decisions. From the technical intricacies of AI development to the user interface’s design, every choice was crucial. But one decision, seemingly simple yet profoundly impactful, stood out: What do we name our AI personas?

The Quest for Identity

In the vast world of AI, giving a virtual entity a name might seem trivial. However, for us, it was about more than just a label. It was about identity, relatability, and setting the tone for user interactions. We wanted our users to feel a connection, to see these AI personas not just as tools, but as partners.

The Initial Brainstorms

Our initial brainstorming sessions produced a plethora of ideas. We considered abstract names, drawing from mythology, celestial bodies, or even fictional universes. We thought about naming them based on their functions, like “CodeMaster” for the software developer or “LegalMind” for the legal counsel.

However, while these names were catchy, they lacked a certain depth. They didn’t tell a story or evoke a sense of legacy.

The Eureka Moment

The turning point came during a team discussion about the great minds of our time and history. We spoke about pioneers in various fields, those who had left an indelible mark on humanity. And then it clicked: Why not name our AI personas after these trailblazers?

Embracing Legacy

By naming our AI personas after prominent human representatives, we could pay homage to the giants upon whose shoulders modern professionals stand. It would also provide users with an immediate understanding of the AI’s specialty based on the legacy of its namesake.

For instance, our accountant AI could be named “Luca” after Luca Pacioli, the father of accounting. Our legal counsel AI might be “Hammurabi”, inspired by the ancient lawgiver who penned one of the earliest legal codes. The software developer? Perhaps “Ada”, honoring Ada Lovelace, the world’s first programmer.

The Reception

The response was overwhelmingly positive. Users appreciated the depth behind each name, often expressing a renewed interest in learning about these historical figures. The names provided a touch of humanity, bridging the gap between cold code and warm interactions.

The journey to naming our AI personas at Beroder was a testament to the project’s core philosophy: blending technology with humanity. By honoring the past, we’ve set a strong foundation for the future, ensuring that as our AI evolves, it remains rooted in the rich tapestry of human achievement.
